Siena - Junior Masterchef Australia

She is my another favorite finalist, after Pierre of course.
This little girl is only 9 years old, she's the youngest among
all the finalist, but she cooks brilliantly! She loves cooking
desserts, but she can cook another dish as lovely as the desserts.
And moreover, she has the cutest face, the cutest voice,
and especially the cutest smile! love her so much,
she's too lovely .
Unfortunately, she didn't win the competition,
but still, being the youngest cook and she reached
the top 4,
this is so amazing for a little girl like her.

And an amazing quote from Siena,
when the judges asked her about the dish,
"Have you done enough so this dish can get you to the top 2?"
and she answered, "I hope I have, but if I haven't I don't care,
because I've gone this far and I'm a winner already."
She's a very sweet and optimistic girl, although
she didn't get to the top 2 but she's still a super great cook.

This is Siena

This is Siena and her bestfriend, Lucy

Siena and her dish

This is the lemon and lime curt tarts, looks so delicious and tempting!
The judges loved these

And this is Siena with the other kids, with a super long pizza

Her Biography
Name: Siena
State: Victoria
Age: 9
Specialty Dish:  Lemon Curd Tarts
Least Favourite Food: Anything green – especially brussel sprouts
Game Plan: “Keep my bench tidy at all times,
always read the recipe and, of course, taste the food
to see if it’s good before plating up to the judges.”

Although Siena is the youngest competitor in Junior MasterChef
she certainly is one of the toughest.
After her dad told her about the show, Siena decided to audition
because she thought it would be really fun and a great experience
to meet like-minded kids who enjoy cooking as much as she does.
Siena loves cooking so much that she invented a cooking club where
she teaches all of her friends how to cook different recipes.
Siena’s sweet tooth means her favourite dishes are desserts
and to prove it – the first thing she ever cooked was muffins
when she was just four-years-old. Siena says when she grows up,
she wants to open her very own patisserie.
Her greatest cooking inspiration is her mum.
Since joining the competition Siena has mastered the fine art
of cooking a good steak.

The Loves of My Loved Ones.(1)

My first born, came into the warmth of my arms , some 30 years ago. Had us waiting for almost 3 years before this bundle of joy came. .......After shaking off his love for Heinz Baby Food, his love was for rice with Hati Ayam Goreng dengan Kicap, which Mak Tok had to hand feed him everyday until he grew tired of it when he reached the age of almost two and a half..........

Hati Ayam Goreng Dengan Kicap

Hati Ayam - cuci dan tos kan
Garam kunyit
Serbuk lada hitam - suku sudu kecil
Kicap manis - 2 sudu kecil
Bawang Besar di potong bulat

1.  Gaulkan garam kunyit ke ayam.
2.  Goreng hati ayam dalam kuali seperti menggoreng ayam. Bila masak, angkat.
3.  Dalam kuali yang baru, masukkan minyak tadi sebanyak 2 sudu makan sahaja.
4.  Masukkan hati yg telah digoreng, serbuk lada hitam, kicap manis dan bawang.
5.  Goreng2 kan hingga kicap bersalut (tambah air sesudu agar kicap tidak hangus),
tutup api dan sendukkan kedalam pinggan.

Then, when we moved to Shah Alam, my baby's love changed for Udang Goreng Kicap......and the prawns had to be big and juicy !!!.......so again, Mak Tok had to send the stock from Alor Setaq to Shah Alam for her precious grandchild's daily meal (Mama dengan Papa mana ada duit nak beli udang RM40-50 sekilo time tu......dua2 dok blajaq lagi.....tu pun kadang2 kena SOS Mak Tok for house rent....susah la katakan.....). So, everyday, Kak Yang had to goreng 2-3 ekoq for his consumption - 1-2 for lunch and 1 for dinner.

Udang Goreng Kicap

3 ekor Udang Kertas (sepanjang 6-7 inci)
garam kunyit
kicap manis
bawang - potong bulat
asam jawa sebesar ibu jari (jadikan 2 sudu besar air shj)
minyak untuk goreng - 3 sudu besar

1. Gaul garam kunyit ke udang, dan goreng.
2. Bila masak, masukkan kicap, air asam jawa dan bawang.
3. Kacau hingga didih (tambah air secamca-dua jika kering) dan angkat.

For Iqwan Nazrein Ibrahim, this was the beginning of his love for food......as years pass by.....his consumptious needs for variety grew .........

Watch your words, they become actions.
Watch your actions, they become habits.
Watch your habits, they become character.
Watch your character, they become destiny.

2011

A week has past into the new year.....has yet to decide on what to do after my retirement in about 10-11 months time, thus ending some 30 years as a government servant.

Would love to do the things that I love doing.......cooking, handicraft, interior decorating and of course my current profession - planning  (especially development control). To start a business.....I'm hopeless in that....would end up giving away free. As the saying goes...Friday's child is loving and giving......so being one, I guess it best describes me.

On the other end, I love to travel , read, write, eat,...... besides just lazing and watching TV (movies). One thing for sure, I'll continue doing what I'm doing part-time now, but after this it'll be full time so that I'll accomplish what I've been wishing for so long. Insya'allah.

So till I've finally made up my mind, we'll wait and see.

Mukadimah.

This blog was created a few weeks ago by my only daughter, Nur Qistina Izzani. (Thanks Na.)  Been wanting to do this for quite sometime but didn't know how to start. They said this is the latest concept where one could release one's thoughts......and all else, so as to avoid stress. Well, it has yet to be tested.........

For a working mum who's more than half a century old... (a friend once reminded me not to use this term again....but why fear because it's a fact, and I am proud of it because at this age, I am still around and mentally sound....) , this is indeed a fresh experience......

This blog was created to share with friends and loved ones about life and love, my likes and dislikes, my experiences, my thoughts and all else that can be of guidance to those younger, especially my loved ones.....Iqwan Nazrein and Aida, Izzat Nacquiuddin, Izzuddin Najmi, Nur Qistina Izzani and Irfan Najhan.

That's it for the preamble.
